one brick

One brick
wide and thick
mold
 shape
   set
    dry
Not for the sky,
dirt or alone I
but for earth
Each man, his own hand
shapes the temple
giving form to a new land
From love within
by love above
we are called to build
the dwelling of love
     power and might
by just one brick?
Alone do we think and feel
    teach and learn
communing with alike
  only in turn
Alone we wake in thought
sold and bought by lies and self
seldom we break off from our wealth
     which is really our time
to accompany our brothers/sisters
in need and death and life and joy
Vice and comfort
  shame and rightness
all take place of needing that tightness
or closeness of brothers/sisters
Fathers neglect us
Mothers respect us
Teachers connect us
Needing directs us
Things distract us
where love should connect us
Just one brick,
My brick
  Your brick
    His brick
      Her brick
One saved
all others are saved
One brick
  all others bricks
build that dewlling of love
     power and might
So when we dream
we wake to sing
songs of praise and thanks and love and Home
cause we were not meant to love alone

My God, My Lord

Faith, be not a gift,
     but a hunger
     binding both wrists
     to forego all drift,
          drifts which humble,
     to prepare fortification
     against storms perverse
     and degrading
Grace, do not bestow,
     but force upon me
     your heavy glow
     illuminating unearned favor
     gathering short-comings
     for riches forthcoming
Love, do not only find I,
     but consume me,
     you desired beauty
     so I may delineate thee
My God
     My Lord

Remain Weary Soul

Remain, you weary soul
Disdain the weary control

Search the prodigious tree
Perch prodigiously for thee

Vanity loses clarity of sight
Sanity clearly loosens might

Forge essential necessary pain
Gorge necessary essential gain

Boast! the holy spirit is quenched
Most spirits are wholly drenched

Repeat properly established ways
complete, with established proper praise

Remain weary soul, remain.
